A short report on St Barnabas Mother Baby/Toddler Group

I took over the running of Barnababies in February this year and it has been a joy to be a part of. We have had such a fun time and made some good friends.  As well as lots of other fabulous crafts we have decorated cut outs of ourselves, made finger puppets, and celebrated the Royal Wedding by making some beautiful crowns and tiaras. On the last session of the summer we had a fantastic Summer Party and finished with a Teddy Bears Picnic at the local park. The mothers who attend the group have said some really positive comments;

‘My son loves coming here, every morning he asks whether it is a Barnababies morning’
‘It is the most friendly mother and baby group I have been too’
‘My daughter loves the songs and often sings them all the way home’
‘The crafts have been great this term and we are looking forward to coming back in September’
And more importantly a quote from one of the children;
‘yummy  biscuits’

We have toys for all ages, books, crafts and song-time.  Parents/Carers have an opportunity to sit down and chat with a cuppa and a biscuit. Refreshments for children are also provided.  Call Sarah 01892 519729 for further details or come along next term (our first meeting is 8th September)

Currently we have around 12 families that regularly come to Barnababies, sometimes more. This would be about 15-18 children.  I see the aims of the group as providing a fun, creative and safe environment and to encourage children to interact with other children socially. It also acts as a stepping stone for preparing the children for nursery/pre-school. For the adults it is an opportunity to meet and make new friends and to encourage a sense of belonging in the community.
